AF003

W. 53rd Drive Area (AF003) – Homes scattered along slopes on the north and east sides of N. Table Mt. These homes have Golden addresses but are located in AFPD coverage area. Large lots with generally good structural spacing between the homes, however, many properties have flammable outbuildings. There are some expensive newer homes mixed in with older wood siding construction. Some of the newer homes have ignition resistant (IR) siding and roofs, but many of the older homes (built mostly in the 1970s and 1980s) have flammable siding, decks, stairs and/or other architectural features. Some properties with wooden fences. Dead end roads and single access for most homes. Most roads are paved and are of adequate width, but a few of the driveways and access spurs are dirt or gravel. Some road segments have steep grades and narrow access. No pullouts and few turnarounds for apparatus. Signage on the paved streets is present and reflective, however some of the access spurs and common driveways are not marked. Address marking is generally poor with several homes only having address marking at the mailbox. Table Mtn. trails above homes run through shrub and grass fuels and receive a lot of traffic. Fuels are primarily grass with scattered clusters of shrubs and evergreens including ponderosa and pinion pines. Shrub fuels are thicker and more continuous in drainages. Flammable native vegetation and ornamental plantings are too close to many homes. Some horse properties and the nearest large animal evacuation area is at the Jeffco County Fairgrounds, which is approximately 9 miles (15 – 20 minutes in normal traffic) away. Overhead powerlines, propane tanks.
